![]() ![]() If ya wanna skip, ya gotta learn your job and do some light reading. The best way as I said is to give a free skip, but the narrative and gameplay won't necessarily cater to new players skipping to 7.0. I don't think it will massively impact the story or development, but I can see a potential fracture of the fanbase depending on how it's handled. Personally, I'm not opposed to a free story skip to the new expansion though. So it's a product of its time and place, and making fundamental changes to the presentation now would make all of that effort irrelevant. It's only because you can literally see the dev team growing and learning from 2.0 and beyond that it became successful. If it had been fully polished from the outset with 1.0, I don't think we would have the success of Endwalker to be proud of 10 years later. My take is this game wouldn't be the success that it is without it being a labor of love and strife over 10 years. I think it comes down to two different types of MMO players (not necessarily casual vs hard-core either) who value different things in their MMO coming to a head over one of the most popular titles at the moment. But like I said, that's not a rational fear and I wouldn't even say it's the root cause of the pushback. Click to shrink.I'm kind of a filthy casual so I don't have much stake in endgame difficulty, but like I said above I could see things like past story integration and fight design being adjusted to accommodate less knowledgeable players who started with 7.0, in the event that there's so many new players who skipped that SE can't ignore them.
